Couture vs. UGC: Designing different ad layouts for TikTok and Instagram.

July 19, 2026 8 min read

Cross-posting identical ad files across multiple paid channels is a major visual strategy bottleneck. TikTok feeds are native sensory environments where users expect real human faces, raw phone audio, and UGC vlog pacing. Instagram, by contrast, is a curation-heavy platform where aesthetics, editorial grids, and flat-lays perform.

Recommended separation for asset variations

TikTok

  • High-velocity, character-led assets
  • Centered bold captions in the middle-third safe zone
  • Raw, native-feeling audio and pacing

Instagram

  • High-fashion, premium lighting compositions
  • Focus on product symmetry and brand colors
  • Editorial grid consistency
